The Mechanical Systems team is responsible for solutions to unique problems, structures, and mechanisms. One of this rocket’s unique problems is the design and production of the parachute.
The first problem this team is tackling is the separation mechanism for the rocket, which is shown below.
The recovery system has two parts; the drogue and the main. We had a successful drogue (pictured left) test in the wind tunnel in early May; it is 3.5ft in diameter. The main chute is under production and will be 12ft in diameter.
